South Suburban Parks and Recreation lists Carson Nature Center as an SCFD free day on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The small nature center sits in South Platte Park in Littleton, with live animals, naturalists on staff and a South Platte River table where kids can recreate the famous 1965 flood.
Pair it with a walk along the river trails outside. Weekend hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; the center is closed Mondays and holidays.
