The Denver Firefighters Museum, housed in the city’s 1909 Fire Station No. 1 at 1326 Tremont Pl., lists a Fire Safety and Prevention Week free day on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Two floors of interactive exhibits and historic apparatus make it a reliable hit with preschoolers and early elementary kids. The museum’s homepage also lists free admission both days of Doors Open Denver, Sept. 25-26.
Regular admission is $10 for adults and $8 for children 3-12 (under 3 free), with hours Tuesday-Saturday 10-4. Homeschool co-ops visiting on another day can book a guided group visit (10-30 people, Tuesday-Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m.) with two weeks’ notice at $5 per child and $7 per adult, including a fire-safety orientation.
