At its Aug. 18 meeting, Arvada City Council formally recognized seven faith organizations for cold-weather outreach to unhoused residents during life-threatening temperatures. According to the city’s meeting recap, the churches collectively served more than 3,000 meals, reaching as many as 121 Arvadans on a single night. Faith Church additionally provided 1,000 outreach bags with hygiene products.
The organizations honored: Mission Arvada, Faith Church, Storyline Church, Spirit of Christ Church, Arvada United Methodist Church, Vineyard Church and Community of Grace Church. It is the kind of quiet, measurable work that rarely makes headlines, and it sits alongside the city’s larger push that housed 65 people from Olde Town this year.

She lives in Northern Colorado with her husband, two daughters and their very large Newfoundland, Mugsy.
