Colorado Gives Foundation, the Arvada-based grant maker, has awarded $3.5 million to 96 nonprofits working to help Jefferson County residents get care, coverage and connection. The foundation says an additional $1.5 million from the Lutheran Legacy Fund, a fund it holds, doubled the money available for health initiatives this year.
According to the foundation’s Aug. 12 announcement, funded nonprofits expect to help thousands of residents enroll in Medicaid and understand their benefits, and to provide tens of thousands of low-cost or no-cost mental, physical and dental health services, including in mountain communities where distance and provider shortages make care harder to reach. Mental health services were the most common type of care that applicants proposed.
