The Denver Foundation is spotlighting a scholarship built for the people who keep local nonprofits running. The Helen McLoraine Nonprofit Employee Scholarship supports employees of Denver-area nonprofit organizations who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate coursework. To date, the foundation says, it has supported 152 students with a total of $891,154 in scholarships.
The foundation’s Sept. 1 story follows one recipient, Juan Aguilar-Estrada, a college advisor with the Denver Scholarship Foundation, which is a separate organization. He works with students at George Washington High School, the same school he graduated from. With the scholarship, the foundation says, he completed a master’s in business administration at Metropolitan State University of Denver, graduating in May 2026, and paid off his student loans.
