Outgrown cleats, a bike helmet that no longer fits, the baseball glove from two seasons ago: on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 to 11 a.m., you can drive them to the RAV4 lot at Ball Arena (1000 Chopper Circle, Denver) and hand them to A Precious Child, the Broomfield-based nonprofit that runs the giveSPORTS equipment drive with Kroenke Sports Charities. The drive accepts new and gently used kids’ sports equipment in excellent condition, plus monetary gifts.
Denver7 reports this is the final year of the event after 15 years. By its count, the drive has collected more than 307,800 pieces of equipment, funded more than $132,000 in sports scholarships and served more than 112,400 local children over that span. Donors receive a tax letter and, while supplies last, a voucher for two Avalanche or Nuggets preseason tickets (limit one per vehicle). A Precious Child says it served 20,000 children and 5,000 caregivers with 2,000 volunteers in 2025 across Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Boulder, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson and Weld counties.
