Golden History Park, at 1020 11th St. in downtown Golden, hosts the museum’s free Autumn Fest on Sunday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The lineup is built for kids: a make-a-craft station, a 4-H petting zoo, big trucks to climb on, a wildlife education booth and face painting, alongside Native American dancers and drummers, a costumed Civil War interpretation and live music from the band Alibi.
The museum points out that, unlike most of its programs, there is no registration for Autumn Fest; you just show up. Sponsors listed include The Colorado Trust, the Golden Downtown Development Authority, SCFD and the City of Golden.
Know before you go
- Golden History Park, 1020 11th St., Golden. Downtown street parking fills on nice Sundays, so leave time.
- Free, all ages, outdoors; dress for early October weather.
- Make a Golden day of it with the free Mines Museum of Earth Science or a stop at the Golden Farmers Market, which has its last Saturday of the season the day before.
