The City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Department is running a free Black-Footed Ferret Exploration on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 5 to 10 p.m. The evening starts with a presentation at the black-footed ferret exhibit in the lobby of the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery, then the group travels about an hour north to Soapstone Prairie Natural Area to hike prairie dog colonies where the endangered ferrets have been reintroduced.
It is free, but you must sign up in advance through the city’s Engage calendar. Plan for a late night and dress for a cold prairie evening.
