Finding help for a family often means knowing which door to knock on. For one morning, Littleton Public Schools put 48 of those doors in the same place.
The district reported on Oct. 8 that about 175 people attended the East Community Center’s Third Annual Community Resource Expo, where 48 organizations and programs gathered to share information and connect with families. The district described the expo as a way to connect families with valuable resources, and to bring families, community organizations, volunteers and district staff together.
Neighbors pitched in
What stands out in the district’s account is how many local groups carried a piece of the day. The Littleton Elks Lodge provided free food for everyone who came. The Littleton Rotary Club provided tote bags so families could carry what they collected from table to table. Nate Thompson, the district’s director of social, emotional and behavior services, served as the DJ.
Volunteers from student groups, district staff and the community gave their time throughout the day, the district said, and kept setup moving through a weekend of rainstorms.
