Missy Kay’s Sweet Shoppe is a candy and cookie shop at Main and 5th streets in downtown Windsor, run by husband-and-wife team Cody and Allison Neidert. Their website says both are Northern Colorado natives who met as students at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. They moved to Windsor in 2019 and opened the town’s IntaJuice location before adding the sweet shop as a family venture.
The name is a family one. “Missy Kay” is the nickname their daughter Margaret (Maggie) Kay has had from her dad since she was tiny, according to the site. The shop’s cookie balloon logo is a nod to Windsor itself and to the mornings when hot air balloons float over town. The site does not say what year the shop opened.
What they do
Cookies are baked on site in what the shop calls its Cookie Kitchen, with chocolate chip, peanut butter, M&M and snickerdoodle among the varieties listed. The shelves hold candy, more than 60 kinds of bottled soda, novelty popsicles, Colorado honey, toys and gifts. The site also says Missy Kay’s is the exclusive retail home of What the Fudge, a fudge made in Eaton.
