Friday, Oct. 16, is Boulder County Free Admission Day at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden. Boulder County residents get in free with proof of residency, as do museum members and children under 2.
The grounds and exhibits are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and train rides operate from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A weekday free day is a good fit for homeschool families in Boulder, Longmont, Lafayette and Louisville: Colorado history and a ride on the rails on a school day.
If you do not live in Boulder County, regular prices apply: $12 for adults, $5 for ages 2 to 17 and $10 for ages 60 and up, or $17, $7 and $15 with a train ride. The museum said advance online tickets would be available soon when we checked.
