A guide makes a railroad museum a history lesson. Each Friday, the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden offers two guided walking tours that introduce the museum, its collections and the railroads’ effect on Colorado history. The Highlights Tour starts at 10:30 a.m., and a second, themed tour starts at 1:30 p.m. After either tour, visitors can keep exploring on their own.
On Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, the 1:30 p.m. tour is the Railroad Kitchen Tour. The museum does not present these as homeschool programs. They are open to everyone, they run during the school day, and at $3 a person on top of regular admission they are an inexpensive way to add a guide to a family field trip.
