Church of the Advent in west Denver invites families and their pets to its first Blessing of the Animals service on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 4 to 5 p.m. on the front lawn at 678 King St. The church ties the service to the memory of St. Francis of Assisi, who, in its words, believed that all living things should be shown love, respect and care.
Know before you go
- Dogs should be leashed and other animals kept in carriers; the church says photos of pets are welcome for animals that cannot make the trip.
- No cost or registration is listed.
- It is outdoors on an October afternoon, so dress for the weather.
