Aims Community College opens a 30,000-square-foot Student Health and Wellness Center in Greeley, with medical, dental and counseling care for students and their families

Aims Community College celebrated its new two-story, 30,000-square-foot Student Health and Wellness Center in Greeley on Sept. 25. Through Sunrise Community Health, students and their immediate family members can get medical and dental care on campus, and counseling for students is free.

For a community college student juggling classes, work and often a family, a doctor’s visit is one more thing that gets pushed to next month. Aims Community College is trying to remove the drive from that equation.

The college celebrated the opening of its Student Health and Wellness Center on Sept. 25 with a ribbon-cutting and open house. The two-story, 30,000-square-foot building sits at 5311 W. 20th St., on the southwest side of the Greeley campus, and has been open to students since the first day of classes in August.

Care for students and their families

The medical and dental care is provided through a partnership with Sunrise Community Health, and it is not limited to the student. Aims says current students and their immediate family members can be seen there. The services the college lists include primary care, wellness visits, pediatrics, same-day care, telehealth, family planning, a pharmacy, lab work, X-rays and dental hygiene.

The first floor holds the lobby, medical exam rooms, dental treatment rooms and X-ray stations. The second floor is home to Aims Counseling Services, which offers free and confidential mental health counseling for students, along with case management, group therapy and recovery meetings.

On cost, the college says fees are based on a patient’s ability to pay. Eligible patients may qualify for a sliding-fee discount based on household income and family size, payment plans are available, and Sunrise accepts private insurance, Health First Colorado (Medicaid), Medicare and Child Health Plan Plus.
