Grandrabbit’s Toy Shoppe opened in Boulder on Oct. 3, 1977, which makes Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, its 49th birthday. Founder Lynne Milot, who signs the shop’s story as its “Foundress,” writes that in 1974 she was the scholarship director at a private Montessori school in Boulder, working with many single mothers who could not find jobs that respected their role as parents. Three years later, believing a business could be a positive force for its community, she opened a toy store.
What they do
The shop stocks hand-picked educational and fun toys for birthdays, holidays and everyday gifts, and says it has been voted the best children’s store in Boulder for over 30 years. The name, Milot writes, came from an older woman she knew whose children had nicknamed her Rabbit. A second shop operates in Broomfield.
