The Singing Cook exists because its owner kept failing to find things. Jenni Hlawatsch writes on the shop’s site that she would run around town looking for an elusive ingredient or tool for a new recipe and tell herself that if she had a kitchen store, she would carry it. The site calls her the singing cook: singing is her first love (she has a degree in music theatre) and cooking a close second. She calls opening the store part whim and part kismet. It turned 14 years old on Aug. 1, 2026.
