Boulder County’s Agricultural Heritage Center, at 8348 Ute Highway in Longmont, is a free look at local farm life from 1900 to 1925. The site has a restored 1909 farmhouse, two barns, a milk house, an outhouse, an heirloom garden and interactive exhibits. Farm animals are on site from April through October.
Admission is free, and so are private tours. Groups of eight or more can request a tour any time of year, and the county asks for at least 21 days of notice. Tours usually take an hour to an hour and a half. Groups may stay up to three hours and are welcome to bring a picnic lunch.
A note for homeschool families: the county’s pages do not name homeschool groups. Its program request page does say schools, scout groups, community clubs and other organizations of eight or more are welcome, and that programs are free. A co-op that can gather eight people should ask, and smaller families can simply come during open hours.
