Old Firehouse Books occupies a historic firehouse at 232 Walnut St. in Fort Collins. According to the store’s own history, it began in 1980 as the Book Rack of Fort Collins, started by Bill Hawk. In 2001 the store was sold to Susie Wilmer and Dick Sommerfeld, who increased the used stock and began ordering new books. It moved to 1801 S. College in the spring of 2002, then into the old firehouse in 2009, when it took its current name in honor of the building.
